I found my way in to the wonderful world of stop-motion, and of building, by happenstance. A career I didn’t know was perfect for me existed, I snuck my way in, and ran with it.

Originally from Washington State, I grew up with horses and the like, drawn to the chores my brother’s and father did, but begrudginly staying away from the lawn mower and the tools to be “safe” for my mother. I attended college on a dual-credit program during high school, hoping to find myself something realistic to pursue. Involved in theatre, I got my first taste of set design when senior year, my teacher allowed me to draw up the staging for the musical. It was the first time I was able to see my ideas come to life in that way.

It was a combination of a love for music, a desire for something new, and the realization that reality meant something entirely different that led me to Los Angeles in 2012.

For a few years, I worked at a print shop. I met a fellow fabricator there who recommened me to my first stop motion gig in 2016 on the Star Wars project pictured above.
I immediately fell in love with the work and feel very grateful to those around me who have afforded me the oppurtunities to work in this industry.

In the midst of managing at bar/restaurants, and back in school for graphic design, I did it all for as long as it took to get my footing in this tiny little industry.

It has been quite the journey in the years since, and hope you’ve enjoyed a visual peek at just some of that journey.

I am currently on production at LAIKA in Oregon, as a set dresser on Wildwood.
